World’s first online dating service for vaccine-free launches in Hawaii

In today’s dating scene, a person’s COVID-19 vaccination status can make or break a relationship.

For this reason, Shelby Thomson and Heather Pyle, two businesswomen from Maui, Hawaii, created the world’s first online dating service dedicated to unvaccinated people.

Two find the online dating game frustrating for the unvaccinated in the lead-up to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in 2021.

According to a survey conducted by Dating.com in 2021, the majority of respondents (86%) said there was no way they would date someone who had not been vaccinated.

“Traditional dating activities based on vaccination status, from restaurants to movies — even sporting events — are limited, and our members see that as a clear dealbreaker,” Maria Sullivan, vice president and dating expert at Dating.com, told Fox 4.

On most dating apps today, you can now list your vaccination status.

The unvaccinated “didn’t have an option to say they weren’t vaccinated” to potential online dating partners, Thomson said.

“They were only allowed to vaccinate. And you must have this badge [online] profile,” he added.

In May 2021, Google and Apple launched “Unjected,” a dating app for the unvaccinated in stores, according to the Epoch Times, two business partners in Hawaii.

“We’re starting to see people looking for partners,” Thomson said, referring to their unvaccinated friends.

But soon after the app’s release, Thomson and Pyle began receiving hate mail, followed by negative media coverage, according to The Epoch Times. Apple removed “Uninjected” from the App Store because it spread false information about vaccines, the company said.

When Google threatened to do the same in August 2021, Unjected.com The web domain host was developed and launched under GoDaddy.

“Unjected was founded to help us connect more easily in a world of medical discrimination and censorship. We believe we all have a lot in common when it comes to being aware of our preferences, and we think great connections can be made when like-minded people like us come together in the same social space,” according to the website.
