“You must be accountable to the President”

In his first interview since the release of his bombshell Nord Stream report, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh said it was “not a hard story to find” and that it was clear NATO was involved in the Nord Stream attack. Hersh was surprised to see his colleagues, who “didn’t seem to have anyone inside.”

“I see that the Germans are starting to adapt to this story,” host Gary Brecher Radio War Nerd Comment

“Would you tell him what they’re dealing with?” Harsh said.

“Throughout the conspiracy,” Brecher quoted Hersh’s source as saying, “certain CIA and State Department operatives were saying, ‘Don’t do it. It’s stupid and it’s going to be a political nightmare if it gets out.’

“Isn’t that incredibly stupid?” Brecher asked.

“But they didn’t see it that way,” Hersh said. “They saw gas coming from Russia. Russia had gas pipelines to Germany, very cheap, so much so that some German companies were reselling (the gas) for a profit.”

Nord Stream was controlled by Gazprom “controlled by oligarchs who respect Putin. But 49% was (owned by) four different European companies, which were selling gas all over Europe. So you had a great source of cheap gas for Europe. Germany is a real powerhouse with the world’s largest chemical companies Mercedes and BASF. They soak up the gas.”

“And so the fear was …” Hersh said, “Biden wants this war. Don’t ask me why presidents want war. I think it’s good for their ratings. But Biden was very big … showing that we can stand up to Russia ( With Ukrainian troops. It’s also politically good in America.”

Biden “saw that gas as a weapon”, Hersh said. “As long as Russia was selling so much gas, they thought the Russians would weaponize it if there was a war.” Planning began before the war, Hersh said.

Speaking at a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on February 7, 2022, Biden said that, if Russia invaded Ukraine, “there would be no more Nord Stream 2.” Pressed to explain how, Biden doubled down: “We will – I promise you – we will be able to do it.”

On January 27, 2022, the State Department’s Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said that ‘regarding Nord Stream 2, we continue to have very strong and frank conversations with our German allies, and I want to be clear with you today. . If Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not go ahead…. We have had extensive discussions with our German allies at every level. I’m not going to go into specifics here today, but we will work with Germany to make sure the pipeline doesn’t go ahead.’

January 26, 2022 US State Department spokesman Ned Price said NPR: “I want to be very clear: If Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not proceed. I’m not going to get into the specifics. We will work with Germany to ensure that this does not go ahead.”

“It’s called a threat,” Hersh said. “People are asking me, ‘How did you get this story?’ A friend of mine put it this way: ‘You’re an expert at deconstructing the obvious.’ What else was it?”

“The German newspapers in particular are very mean to me,” Hersch said. “The The New York Times And The Washington Post Just ignore me.” The mainstream media wants Hersh to name his source and “put him in jail,” Hersh said. That would end my career. I’ve been doing this for 50 years… I protect people. I have a source. . I’m taking the heat, but that’s my job. But it’s their job to understand the business a little better,” Harsh said.

“They understand the business The New York Times And Washington Post,Harsh said.

“The problem is, everything has become cheap. Because now The New York Times And The Washington Post It seems that an unnamed source may be a press man, a press secretary, who whispers something to them. I don’t know, they don’t seem to have anyone inside,” Hersh said.

Coverage of the Ukrainian war “Compared to what I’m hearing from my friends who have information… the war I know about is not the war you’re reading about,” Hersh said.

Harsh said BASF has closed the factories and is “talking to China about shifting facilities there.” Crippling the German economy was “shooting yourself in the left foot for no reason”, Hersch observed. “This is stupid beyond belief. Is it criminal? This is undoubtedly an astonishing degree of stupidity in the White House and on the part of the President. It’s just stupid.”

“You have to ask yourself, what is it with presidents? Why do they like fighting so much? (Maybe) because it’s politically expedient,” Hersh said. “It’s too bad. Inexcusable.”

“There is the White House The New York Times, The Washington Post, MSN and CNN are fronting for them,” said Hersh. “The enemy is Fox News. Tucker Carlson was the only reporter who called me from any TV station.

“He’s a smart guy. I wouldn’t go on his show,” Hersh said of Carlson, “but he died right … in the war in Ukraine,” Hersh said.

The Nord Stream story “stunned me because it was such an obvious story,” Hersch said. “The Russians didn’t do it. And if the Russians didn’t do it, which NATO country (did?)… I was joking with a friend: maybe Macedonia did it. Are they in NATO?

“It’s not even a difficult story to understand,” Hersh said. “The President of the United States, the Under Secretary of State both said they were going to do it. And they did it.”

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said “Within a month of the event, he gave a speech in which he talked about stopping Russia from building oil and gas weapons… He was clearly among the people who knew what had happened.”

“The The New York Times There are many terrible reporters, but when it comes to this kind of reporting, they underestimate the American people. We are ready to accept that the president has done this,” Harsh said. “You have to be accountable to the president.”

Hersh stands by his story while insisting on protecting his sources, even when they indicate they may be related to the pipeline industry: “One thing the government is good at is looking for people.”

“It’s not a hard story to find,” Hersh said. “There is something called a pipeline industry. American company. They build pipelines around the world. They know what happened.”
