Mike Pence’s Indiana home

Last month it was reported that “a small number of classified documents” had been discovered at former Vice President Mike Pence’s Carmel, Indiana home.

According to CNN, Mike Pence had one of his lawyers search his residence for classified materials “out of an abundance of caution.”

“Vice President Pence was not aware of the existence of sensitive or classified documents at his private residence,” Pence’s rep said. Written by Greg Jacobs. “Vice President Pence understands the high importance of protecting sensitive and classified information and is ready and willing to cooperate fully with the National Archives and any appropriate investigation.”

The National Archives recently asked former presidents and vice presidents to examine their records for classified materials.

“The responsibility to comply with the PRA does not diminish upon termination of administration,” the letter said. “Therefore, we request that you conduct an assessment of any material held outside of NARA that relates to the administration for which you serve as a designated representative under the PRA, to determine which bodies of material are previously deemed to be personal in nature. Whether it was taken inadvertently or not. Presidential or Vice-Presidential records are subject to the PRA, whether classified or unclassified.”

“The Archives sent the letter to representatives of former Presidents Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George HW Bush and Ronald Reagan, and former Vice Presidents Pence, Biden, Dick Cheney, Al Gore and Dan Quayle.” CNN reported.

The letter to former presidents and vice presidents comes after classified documents were ‘discovered’ by Mike Pence at his Carmel, Indiana home.
