On Monday, a massive fire completely destroyed a manufacturing facility and warehouse in Chicago, a year after announcing a major expansion at the site.
Multiple fire departments responded to the extra-alarm fire at the Morgan Lee warehouse at 1101 Washington Ave. in Chicago Heights, according to city spokesman David Ormsby.
According to reports, the fire broke out in the building around 6 am, which quickly spread to the neighboring buildings.
No employees were present at the time of the fire and no casualties were reported.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire.
Morgan Lee issued a statement on their website following the incident.
A fire broke out in our factory at 1001 Washington Street in Chicago Heights on Monday morning, February 6, 2023. Although fire damage is extensive, the most important thing is that all our people are safe and responsible.
Morgan Lee is a family owned and operated business and we consider all of our employees to be an extension of our family; We will do everything we can to rebuild what we lost and continue to support our people and the entire Chicago Heights community. The fire location is one of our five manufacturing facilities and we will continue to support our customers across other operational locations.
We do not know the cause of the fire and are working with the authorities and fully cooperating with their investigation.
