Dr. Anthony Fauci was chastised online Sunday after critics discovered that the retired NIAID director, once the highest-paid US federal government employee, was charging up to $100,000 to speak.

Christina Pusha, rapid response director for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, tweeted a screenshot Sunday from the website of the Leading Motivational Speakers Agency, listing Fauci as a “motivational” and “health care” keynote speaker priced between $50,000 and $1,000.

The website describes Fauci as someone “whose career can be executed under tremendous pressure that can change the course of human existence. His work on domestic and global health issues has saved millions of lives. This high level of research, discovery and execution is surprising given the serious challenges he faces on a daily basis,” the agency wrote.
