The Metropolitan Police arrested the man who attacked a Democrat congresswoman in DC on Thursday.
Democrat Representative Angie Craig (MN) was assaulted and beaten in her DC apartment building Thursday morning.
Police said the representative said “good morning” to the attacker as he entered the elevator to go to his apartment.
The suspect was reportedly doing push-ups in the elevator before assaulting the lawmaker.

“This morning around 7:15 am, Representative Craig was assaulted in the elevator of his apartment building in Washington DC. “Representative Craig defended himself from the attacker and was injured, but is otherwise physically fine,” Craig’s office said.
“There is no evidence that the incident was politically motivated,” the statement said.
“Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig grabbed her by the neck in an apartment elevator and punched her in the chin before throwing hot coffee on her, according to a D.C. police report. The assailant fled.” – according to a statement from the Capitol Police.
Police arrested 26-year-old Kendrick Hamlin, aka Hamlin Khalil Hamlin, on Thursday evening.
Kendrick Hamlin appears to be homeless.
MPD announced that an arrest has been made in reference to a simple assault offense that occurred on Thursday, February 9, 2023, in the 300 block of H Street Northeast.
