Ukraine announced on Wednesday that six Russian spy balloons had been spotted in the sky over Kiev. All of them were killed by air force firing.

Authorities in Kiev said on February 15 that the city’s air-defense forces had shot down “most” of what they said were six Russian balloons that had been spotted over the city and were carrying reconnaissance equipment or reflectors intended to interfere with Ukraine’s air-defense system. . The statement also suggested that the Russian side may have sent the balloons in an attempt to detect and destroy Ukrainian air-defense units. Russia has not commented on the balloon.
