A fence is being erected around the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., ahead of President Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, despite Democrats stopping construction of a wall along the southern border.
The Biden administration and congressional Democrats have called the southern border wall costly and ineffective, as well as a sign of xenophobia and strongly oppose building barriers to control the influx of illegal immigrants entering the United States from countries such as Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. .
Biden is expected to deliver his second State of the Union address on the Capitol floor on the House floor, where most members of Congress in the House and Senate will attend in person. Construction of a large fence around the Capitol complex began Sunday, despite objections from Democrats over a barrier at the southern border.
