Elon Musk has revealed a little-known State Department agency as the ‘worst criminal in America’

Twitter chief Elon Musk called the Global Engagement Center, which is part of the State Department, as a major source of federal censorship efforts in the United States.

“The US government is the worst offender in censorship [and] Media manipulation is a shady organization called GEC,” he tweeted on Monday evening.

GEC was outed last month in an installment of the ‘Twitter Files’, which journalist Matt Taibbi described as the “innovative analytics/intelligence” arm involved in managing Twitter’s content moderation.

“They are a threat to our democracy,” Musk added. “That’s the line they feed the media about me.”

In a later tweet, Musk provided the thread for Taibbi’s report on the GEC.

Elon Musk has revealed the Global Engagement Center as the biggest censorship threat

Elon Musk, in late December, was praising his own efforts to fight censorship and put the mainstream media on notice, sending an ominous warning that they “should be worried” because “we’re just getting started.”

Just a few days later, Tybbi released the 12th installment of the ‘Twitter Files’ which “recounts the surprising variety of requests from officials they don’t like to ban.”

Much of this focused on the Center for Global Engagement and efforts to address dissent on the Covid pandemic.

“The GEC identified the accounts as ‘Russian individuals and proxies’ based on criteria such as describing the coronavirus as an engineered bioweapon, ‘blaming research conducted at the Wuhan Institute’ and ‘blaming the CIA for the appearance of the virus.’ Taibi wrote.

“The state also flagged accounts that retweeted news that Twitter had banned the popular US zerohedge, claiming the episode ‘created another wave of misleading narratives.’ ZH reported that hypothesized that the virus had lab origins.

Taibia would also claim “Twitter has honored nearly all requests, even from the GEC — including the decision to ban accounts … because the GEC identified them as ‘GRU-controlled’ and linked ‘to the Russian government.'”

Kasturi is a free speech hero

If the Global Engagement Center represents the biggest threat to censorship in this country, Musk, by contrast, is the hero of the story.

His exposure to the GEC and media/big tech/social media cabal of censorship is invaluable. Even if lawmakers still do nothing to hold them accountable for their blatant attempts to stifle free speech.

Former President Donald Trump praised Musk for doing the country “a great service” by releasing the ‘Twitter files’ and called the visionary billionaire a free speech “hero”.

The State Department’s unveiling of the GEC is another step in that direction. Even their mission statement reads like a left-wing campaign to focus on what they believe is misinformation, which is likely dissent from mainstream propaganda.

Its mission statement:

Direct, lead, coordinate, integrate, and coordinate the efforts of the United States federal government to identify, understand, expose, and counter foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining or influencing the policy, security, or stability of the United States, its allies, and partner nations.

Where was this organization when the Russia collusion hoax was making major rounds in the mainstream media? Where were they when the Steele Dossier was considered a thing?

Where were they to stop “undermining or influencing the stability of the United States” when Hunter Biden’s laptop was being misreported in an attempt to interfere in the American election?

They were, as Musk puts it, too busy being “the worst offenders in US government censorship.”
