DeSantis gets expanded powers and more money to send illegal immigrants to Blue

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spoke to the Miami Police Benevolent Association on Thursday.

Elected Republicans in Florida are not letting the Biden administration’s border policies destroy their state.

The Florida House of Representatives has voted to give Florida Governor Ron DeSantis more power to relocate illegal immigrants to any state in the country.

The bill establishes the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program — and appropriates $10 million for it.

The bill now heads to DeSantis’ desk where he is expected to sign it into law.

The Epoch Times reported:

Florida lawmakers approved an expansion of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ relocation program for illegal immigrants, handing him the power to transport such people from anywhere in the country, including blue states.

In a special session, Florida’s House of Representatives voted along party lines on Feb. 10 to expand DeSantis’ efforts to relocate unauthorized immigrants located in any state to any jurisdiction in the United States.

The bill establishes the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program within the Department of Emergency Management, expanding on a program DeSantis enacted last year that enabled officials to fly illegal immigrants to blue states that have sanctuary policies.

In addition to expressly granting transportation authority to DeSantis, the bill appropriates $10 million for the program, where money spent in the past for immigrant relocation efforts is “deemed appropriate.” This strengthens the governor’s position in the face of potential legal challenges.

The bill’s sponsor, GOP Senator Blaise Ingoglia, said, “The state of Florida is not, and never will be, a sanctuary state. It’s time for these sanctuary cities to put their money where their mouths are.”

Fox 13 reported:

The bill’s Senate sponsor, Republican Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, said it would only transport immigrants who voluntarily seek sanctuary cities and states.

State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill) said, “The federal government has not only failed but has refused to take action to address the 200% increase in encounters at the border.” “In fact, this administration has taken steps to make the problem worse. The state of Florida is not, and never will be, a sanctuary state. It’s time for these sanctuary cities to put their money where their mouth is.”

Every red state should follow suit!
