AZ State Senator demands action from Katie Hobbs after tanker launches

A tanker carrying toxic chemicals, including nitric acid, overturned on Interstate 10 near Tucson, Arizona, forcing an evacuation and a shelter-in-place warning from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Officials lifted the shelter-in-place and evacuation warnings and reopened the highway Wednesday evening.

However, those in the area are now said to be “experiencing serious health effects from the smoke”.

Arizona State Senator Justin Wodsack said in a new statement, “I am hearing from residents in the area who are currently experiencing respiratory issues including coughing, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.” Wodsack added, “How on earth do we know that air quality is currently safe for our residents? Where is Governor Hobbs in this crisis? The affected area in Southern Arizona requires a state of emergency declared by his office. We need medical resources and air quality experts now.”

The same people who tried to lock us all in our homes and flimsy masks for two years, saying it was basically the flu, now say that potentially toxic air is okay to breathe. What’s really going on here?

Gateway Pt It was reported Wednesday that shortly after the tanker rolled over, motorists on the interstate saw clouds of nitric acid. According to the CDC, “Exposure to nitric acid can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes; It can cause delayed pulmonary edema, pneumonitis, bronchitis and tooth decay. Nitric acid is highly corrosive.”

The driver behind the tanker was found dead at the scene.

Senator Wodsack released a press release Thursday, calling on Hobbs to take action against this real public health crisis and condemning him for his inaction.

“My constituents are terrified, and we are calling on the governor to do his job. Public health is at risk, and he’s asleep at the wheel. I will travel to the area as soon as possible to assess the situation, and I encourage him to do the same.” said Wadsack.

Arizona state representative Rachel Jones joined in demanding Wadsack’s action, asking, “Isn’t this something that a governor should address?”

It’s one of many bizarre and disastrous incidents involving a freighter or dangerous chemical in America this month.

as Gateway Pt Reportedly, on February 3, 2023, a Norfolk Southern freight train carrying carcinogenic chemicals derailed in the small town of East Palestine in Ohio, sending a plume of hazardous gas into the atmosphere during a “controlled release” burn.

A massive 5-acre fire — two stories high — at a warehouse storing plastic plant containers in Kissimmee, Florida, told residents with respiratory problems to stay inside.

All this, we are told, is fine, and the air is safe.
