Six people were shot and killed in Arkabutla, Mississippi on Friday, the Tate County Sheriff said.

According to Sheriff Brad Lance, the shooter entered a store and opened fire on one person. The gunman then went to a house near Bend Road and shot a woman.

Lance said the suspect went to a house on Arkabutla Dam Road and shot and killed two people there.

A deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect and attempted to stop him. He did not stop his car, gave chase.

Officials say he pulled into a driveway of a home and the gunman was detained there. At the home, officers found one person dead in a car and another in the street.
