Border Patrol Intel Agent Jose “Mork” Mercado died suddenly Saturday of an “unexpected and sudden heart attack.” He was 34 years old.
His death was confirmed by Rep. Mayra Flores (TX 34th District) in a social media post.
“My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Border Patrol Intel Agent, Jose Mercado. He was assigned to RGV Sector in Edinburg, Texas. He died of a sudden heart attack yesterday. Keep his family in your prayers,” Flores wrote on his Twitter, which was shared by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX 21st District).

Jose Mercado was a member of Class 875 US Border Patrol RGV Sector. He worked with the US Border Patrol as an outstanding agent for 14 years.
Veronica Medina created a fundraising campaign to support the Mercado family in their time of need.
At the time of writing, the fundraiser had raised $11,285 of the $20,000 goal.
